I love seeing what's inside other people's make-up bags. It's all very well and good having a large collection of products (and I too am guilty!) but it's those products that find themselves nestled into your everyday stash that I always favour reading about. If someone wants to use x mascara or concealer everyday then it's got to be a gem, right? Here is my current make-up kit of choice...
Apologies for the slightly cruddy photo! |

My make-up bag of choice at the minute is this beautiful Ted Baker Katient Cosmetic Bag that I recently picked up in House of Fraser for £22. I love things that are patent and a little bit plasticy (how tacky do I sound?!) and Ted Baker hits that nail on the head nicely. This little bag is a perfect size for slipping into an oversized handbag for on the go, but I like to make a feature of it on my shelves, I love it too much!
I'm pretty easy going when it comes to a daily make-up routine. I'll start with a cotton pad soaked in micellar water to cleanse my face and then I moisturise. Then I'll use my MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base to create an even smooth base on my skin, and follow up with Benefit FakeUP or YSL Touche Eclat on my dark circles/blemishes before adding a thin coverage of MAC Prep + Prime Beauty Balm to add some extra hydration in preparation for my foundation. I'm currently using MAC Matchmaster Foundation and it's horrible on dry skin. It clings to all my dry patches, especially on my nose, and, although it provides decent coverage it does not sit right on dry skin. The only reason why I'm still using this to be honest is because it was a present, and I need to use it for back to MAC. Damn you dry skin! My final base layer is a dusting of powder to set everything in place, and my current go to, and, dare I say it, holy grail powder is the Bourjois Healthy Balance - it's pretty amazing!
Once my base layers of foundation etc are finished I love to fill in and define my brows with my HD Brow Palette that I received in a Glossybox last year. Then I'll slap on some eyeshdow, either from my Naked 2/Naked Basics palettes or, as shown above, my Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze - it really brings out my blue eyes which is why this is such a lovely colour. Then I'll draw on my wings using L'Oreal Superliner in black (I feel naked without my eyeliner flicks!) and apply copious amounts of mascara, at the moment I'm absolutely loving Maybelline Rocket. I usually apply eyeliner to my waterline last, but I'm currently loving one by Inika that I received in a beauty box some time ago.
With my eyes complete I'll move on to adding highlighter to my cheek bones (I can't get enough of highlighter, I adore the Kim K 'glow'!) using either my Nars Albatross or Benefit's Watt's Up and adding my blusher, currently reaching for MAC's Dollymix for a pretty pink flush. I do all this using brushes from Real Techniques, including the powder brush, blush brush and stippling brush, as well as a MAC 188.
Ta-daaa...Louise is ready to face the world :)
Do you have a morning make-up routine?
What are your most reached for products?
I'm loving the Benefit Watts Up at the moment, I recently bought it and it's replaced my Mac soft & gentle since then.
ReplyDeleteDo you find the Maybelline Rocket mascara pulls eyelashes out because it's so difficult to remove? I've noticed that with mine but maybe i'm just being too rough with it.
Your Ted Baker bag is so cute, love the colours.

I usually scrub my face in the shower at night with exfoliator and it gets rid of my mascara, I don't think I've tried it with remover and a cotton pad or the like, I'll have to experiment :)
DeleteI adore Watt's Up too, I get so many complements!

My routine changes daily on how much sleep i've had/where i'm going, like today after 2 hours sleep it called for excess make up to make me look more awake haha.
ReplyDeleteReally want to try Watts Up, heard really good things!

Aww hope you're managing more sleep now!
DeleteYou should check it out next time you're at a counter, it's a beauty.
xx
Ooooh I never knew that MAC did a Beauty Balm. Would you recommend it?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try watts up! May have to take a trip to the Benefit counter again soon!
I'm like you and I also like plasticy makeup bags, I think it's because they wipe clean so easy and the Ted Baker one you've got looks like a great size.
My most reached for product is my Estee Lauder Double Wear because the coverage is incredible and it lasts all day!

I've not tried Double Wear but heard good things about it.
DeleteAnd yes, I absolutely love MAC's BB balm, I did a review on it a few months back if you fancy hunting it out :)

First off, thank you for being a lovely with a Ted Baker cosmetics case and telling us where you got it! Haha, I've been searching for it for ages and no one ever shares where they got it! (It's not on the website :/) I've been dying to try the Benefit FakeUP everyone has just been raving about it and I think I'd love it. Can see it quickly becoming a staple! My most reach for product would have to be Make Up For Ever Aqua liner in 2L. It's a gorgeous brown eyeliner with itty, bitty flecks of gold that's just really lovely! Great post, loved reading it :)
